da esoccer bet: Sky Sports pundit and former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the Championship leaders “on a different level” this season.
da brdice: The Whites top the standings going into this weekend’s fixtures having won five and drawn two of their seven matches, and they will be looking to make it five straight wins when they face Millwall at the New Den on Saturday.
The Yorkshire outfit thrashed Burton Albion 5-0 at Elland Road last weekend before following up with another home win on Tuesday when they beat Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City side 2-0, and they have now kept six successive clean sheets having not conceded in the league since the opening day 3-2 success against Bolton Wanderers.
The quick progress may not have been expected considering Thomas Christiansen only took over in the summer and the club brought in a whole host of new signings – as well as losing last season’s top goalscorer Chris Wood to Burnley – but they have hit the ground running.
Having narrowly missed out on securing a play-off position last term when they finished seventh under Garry Monk, Leeds will be gunning to improve and go at least one step better this season.
Former Whites midfielder Prutton believes they are well on course to do that and he has certainly been impressed with what he has seen, believing the momentum they have could prove to be crucial.
He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “They’re the definition of a club on a roll.
“What looks on paper like the mark of a good side can sometimes be a bit deceptive but Leeds are on a different level.
“So, top of the table after seven games. To me that’s significant. We’re far enough into the year for form to be slowly taking shape and, quite frankly, Leeds are bang at it.
“As a pundit I’m impressed and if I was one of the players there, I’d be buzzing.”
