da esport bet: After a season of disappointment for Liverpool, it looks as if the club will once again delve into the transfer market in a bid to improve the side’s ailing on-field form. However, if they are to secure extra reinforcements, current squad members will, likely, have to move on freeing up funds for wages and places in the 25-man roster. Although some of the Reds recent signings have been a little underwhelming, they will surely be kept due to the heavy investment, with some of the team’s more experienced men making being shown the door.
The likes of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and Fabio Aurelio are rumored to be surplus to requirements as Kenny Dalglish plans for next season, with the aim of bringing Champions League football back to Anfield. The trio are now all the wrong side of 30, and entering the final years of their contracts with the club, so summer moves make sense for both parties. Some fans may well call for the departures of Andy Carroll or Stewart Downing, who have been largely disappointing, but any deals for either of these men would likely see the club take a massive loss on their investment.
Kuyt has become a fans favourite since his arrival at the club in 2006 under Rafa Benitez, who transformed the striker into an effective wide midfielder, after a poor goal return from the Dutchman. Since then his work rate and never say die attitude have won over the Anfield faithful, in period of relative disappointment for the club. However, it may now be time for the ex-Feyenoord man to move on, as the influx of fresh talent has limited his game time, frustrating the 31-year-old. This culminated in the converted winger finding himself dropped to the bench for the Carling Cup final, although he came on to score the message appeared clear that his time at the club was coming to an end.
The same has been true for Maxi and Aurelio, who have both struggled for game time, with the Argentine, like Kuyt, dropping down the pecking order and the left-back struggling with injuries. They may have dedicated themselves to the cause during their contracts, but if the club are to move on and challenge once more, fresh talent is needed, and to do this some squad players will have to make way.
As well as benefiting the club in terms of new arrivals, extra room in the squad will serve as motivation for Liverpool’s promising youngsters. The club’s youth sides have performed to a high level for the past few years, with players such as Raheem Sterling, Suso and Conor Coady all impressing on a regular basis. The examples of Martin Kelly, Jay Spearing and Jon Flanagan display the clubs faith in home-grown talent, and with extra spaces up for grabs, greater numbers of fresh talent can make the step up as cover for the first-team.
It may be unpopular with some followers of the club, but the likes of Kuyt, Maxi and Aurelio have to be moved on to further the development of the club. They have served the team well during their time on Merseyside, but parting company will be beneficial for all involved.
