da bet nacional: Tottenham Hotspur are flying high in the Premier League having gone unbeaten in seven consecutive games.
da luck: As it stands, Mauricio Pochettino’s team are third in the table, level on points with this weekend’s opponents Manchester United.
The North London outfit sent a message last Sunday by dismantling Liverpool in a 4-1 triumph at Wembley.
On the previous day, Jose Mourinho’s United team were stopped in their tracks by newly-promoted Huddersfield Town, who earned a 2-1 victory.
This Saturday, Tottenham will take on the Red Devils at Old Trafford, but their confidence may have been knocked slightly following Wednesday night’s result.
Spurs were favourites to progress into the next round of the Carabao Cup when they faced West Ham United on home soil, but they squandered a two-goal lead, eventually losing 3-2.
Pochettino did leave out the likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen from the starting XI, but it does not make the result any less damaging.
Club legend Ledley King, though, has played down the importance of Saturday’s league clash against United, but believes that his former team could lay down a marker in the title race.
Sky Sports quotes the former Spurs captain as saying:
“Obviously there are still plenty of points to play for this season so [the result against United] is not going to make or break anything. But it is a great chance to put down a marker, to say that we are are going to be here in the run in right up to the end of the season. If we are able to go to Manchester and get a result I think everyone sits up, takes notice and knows that we’re in for the race to the end.”
