da betcris: Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas says Crystal Palace should only consider selling Wilfried Zaha if they receive an offer of £60m this summer, which is far lower than the £100m they are reportedly ready to demand.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Eagles’ summer transfer window hasn’t exactly got off to the best of the starts, with Sky Sports reporting that their star player has told them he wants to leave and play for a club competing in the Champions League.
While Palace are said to be sympathetic with the attacker’s wishes according to The Guardian, it would take an offer of £100m to convince them to cash in on their prized asset.
Commenting on what the summer holds for Palace however, Nicholas would sell the 26-year-old for a considerably lower fee.
He told Sky Sports: “I would refuse any suggestions to get Wilfried Zaha away. Unless someone comes in with £60m, I wouldn’t take it.”
Is he right?
He probably is, yes.
Palace’s supposed £100m valuation of Zaha is completely unrealistic – even in the modern-day transfer market – and while they are probably using it to try and keep the Ivory Coast international at Selhurst Park, it could work against them if it prevents the player getting the move he clearly wants.
While they would want more due to Manchester United’s 20% sell-on fee, £60m would still be a fair price for a club like Palace considering Southampton are the only similarly-sized Premier League club to achieve more for one of their players – Virgil van Dijk.
Leicester also received £60m for Riyad Mahrez last summer, and that sort of money would allow Hodgson to significantly strengthen his squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Eagles have done well to hold onto a player of Zaha’s talent for as long as they have, but now it is time to start looking ahead to the future.
