Leeds United have been linked with another goalkeeper this week. Football Insider have reported that the Whites are interested in signing Brentford stopper Luke Daniels.
The Yorkshire club have also been linked with Mark Travers already in this transfer window as their hunt for a keeper continues.
What’s the story?
One position in which Leeds aren’t sure on next term is between the sticks, and now they’re looking at the 31-year-old as the solution to their problems.
Kiko Casilla may be headed back to Spain if reports are to be believed, and Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s recent comments hinted that he isn’t too happy with life at Elland Road at the moment.
United certainly need a goalie, but they may be barking up the wrong tree when looking at the 6 ft 4 Daniels.
Unlikely to land him
Although Leeds are targeting a decent keeper in Daniels after he kept six clean sheets in 20 appearances last season, they aren’t likely to sign the 31-year-old.
Daniels was particularly good in the game against Marcelo Bielsa’s side, as he kept a clean sheet despite Leeds having 18 shots.
Brentford have only just sold one stopper Daniel Bentley to Bristol City, and as it stands Daniels will be their number one headed into the new season.
The goalkeeper position is one spot where a team can’t afford to take any shortcuts, and if the Bees sell their only senior stopper just a few weeks before the opening day, they will be leaving themselves in a precarious position.

Perhaps United can revisit this one closer to the deadline if the London club sign a new goalkeeper, but at this very moment, it’s hard to see the Whites standing much chance of getting this one over the line.
